Insurance Claims Assistance

Galveston Roofing Group

Helping Galveston Homeowners Navigate Roofing Insurance Claims

Filing a roof insurance claim after storm damage can be overwhelming. At Galveston Roofing Group, we connect you with experienced, licensed roofing professionals who assist throughout the process—from inspection to repair documentation.

Important Note:
Galveston Roofing Group is not a public insurance adjuster. We do not negotiate or settle claims. However, the contractors we refer can meet with your insurance adjuster to ensure accurate damage reporting and scope alignment.

Step 1: Schedule a Roof Inspection

Before filing your claim, confirm that your roof has damage qualifying under your policy.

What to Expect During Inspection:

  • A detailed assessment for wind, hail, and storm-related damage
  • Photo documentation of missing shingles, water intrusion, or leaks
  • A comprehensive report to support your insurance claim

Step 2: File Your Insurance Claim

Once damage is confirmed, begin the claims process with your insurance provider.

You’ll Need:

  • Policy number
  • Storm date and time
  • Photos and inspection report

Your insurance provider will issue a claim number, which you’ll use during the process.

Step 3: Insurance Adjuster Inspection

An insurance adjuster will evaluate the damage independently.

What You Should Do:

  • Expect a call within 48 hours to schedule the visit
  • Inform your roofing contractor of the appointment
  • Ensure your contractor attends to represent your best interests

Why It Matters:
Insurance adjusters work for the provider. Having a contractor present helps ensure all damage is documented properly and repairs follow local code requirements.

Step 4: Review the Estimate

After the inspection, your insurance company will issue a Scope of Work outlining:

  • Approved repairs
  • Estimated costs and depreciation
  • Your deductible responsibility

Next Steps:

  • Share this with your contractor
  • They’ll verify if the scope includes all necessary repairs
  • If not, they may help request a supplement for additional work

You’ll typically receive the estimate within 7–10 days of the adjuster’s visit.

Step 5: Roof Replacement & Payment Process

Insurance payments are generally issued in two phases:

First Payment – Actual Cash Value (ACV)

  • Covers the depreciated value of your existing roof
  • Released shortly after claim approval

Roof Work Begins

  • Contractor schedules your roofing project
  • You pay your deductible as required by your policy

Second Payment – Recoverable Depreciation

  • Paid after the job is completed
  • Your contractor submits a final invoice
  • You forward the remaining payment to complete the process
